These principles define the conditions under which I design digital systems. They are not preferences. They are structural requirements.

Structure before solutions

Define the structural model first, then design solutions. Make the model explicit and shared before adding features.

Design makes decisions visible

Use design to surface priorities, constraints and intent. Keep decisions explicit so the system does not drift.

Search behaviour reflects intent at scale

Treat search behaviour as intent data. Map it and use it to align structure, navigation and language.

Governance is not optional

Establish governance rules, ownership and update cadence. Enforce exceptions so they do not become structural debt.

Longevity outweighs optimisation

Optimise for longevity, not short-term gains. Protect coherence with restraint, clarity and structural integrity.
